Estimator, Heavy Civil/Highway

Trucco Construction Co., Inc. is actively seeking to add an experienced Civil Estimator to our team. Qualified candidates will have the capability to bid sewer, water, earthwork and roadway projects. Experience working in the public sector is preferred but not required.
+ RESPONSIBILITIES & REQUIREMENTS

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Review and understand all bid documents, including but not limited to: plans, project specifications and geotechnical reports
  • Assess project risks
  • Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs
  • Attend pre bid meetings
  • Conduct field visits to identify site specific conditions that may affect productivity
  • Procure and analyze vendor and subcontractor pricing
  • Review and incorporate historical data from previous projects and cost reports into estimates
  • Prepare an estimate from start to finish to include all labor, material, equipment and subcontractor costs
  • Conduct bid reviews with other members of the estimating team and the Chief Estimator
  • Work closely with the Project Management team to seamlessly hand off awarded projects
  • Perform additional tasks at supervisor's discretion

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering preferred but not required
  • Proven experience in Civil Construction Estimating 
  • Knowledge of HCSS Construction Software preferred
  • Has the ability to analyze Agtek reports
  • Enjoys working in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to meet critical deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with customers, suppliers and subcontractors
  • Organized and detail oriented
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Extensive knowledge of construction methods and industry standards
  • Project scheduling experience with Primavera preferred but not required

Project Manager

Trucco Construction Co., Inc. is seeking a Project Manager to take projects from initial award to final completion. In this role, you will be expected to work alongside project superintendents, providing administrative and field support.
+ RESPONSIBILITIES & REQUIREMENTS

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Must have a strong buy-in to Trucco Construction’s safety policy, abide by all OSHA requirements, and will be committed to leading by example.
  • Attend hand-off meetings with the project estimator to gain an understanding of our scope of work.
  • Review and understand plans, contracts, and bid documents.
  • Attend preconstruction meetings with project owners as well as any subsequent progress meetings.
  • Lead in-house preconstruction meetings to communicate project needs with the Trucco team.
  • Initial set-up of the project, including, but not limited to: writing all necessary subcontracts and purchase orders, uploading plans and project files into HCSS Plans, and communicating accounting needs with the accounting department.
  • Export project activities and productions from Heavy Bid into Heavy Job and set up job budgets in Spectrum. 
  • Review and compare actual productions to bid productions on a daily basis. Identify areas that are underperforming and work with the project superintendent to get those areas back on track.
  • Provide two week look aheads to our operations department.
  • Keep track of job costs and provide monthly updates to upper management.
  • Price and submit change orders.
  • Submit monthly billings.
  • Close out projects by providing any certifications and warranty letters to project owner and requesting payment of retainer.
  • Coordinate and lead post job meetings with the Trucco team.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Four year Engineering or Construction Management degree, or field / related job experience required.
  • Knowledge of HCSS Construction Software and Primavera is preferred.
  • Has strong problem solving and negotiating skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Organized and detail oriented.
  • Likes to work on a team.
